In this tutorial, I will guide you through the step-by-step procedure on how to automatically generate an electronic certificate after participants answer a registration, attendance, or evaluation form using Google Forms. By following these simple steps, you can streamline the process and make it more efficient.

Introduction

Creating and distributing electronic certificates can be a time-consuming task. However, with the help of Google Forms and Autocrat, you can automate the entire process, saving you time and effort.

Creating a Folder in Google Drive

The first step is to create a folder in Google Drive. This is where you will store all the necessary files, including the e-certificate template, Google Forms, and the Google Sheets generated from the forms.

To create a folder, click on "New" in Google Drive and choose "Folder". Name the folder accordingly.

Creating a Template for the E-certificate

Next, you need to create a template for the e-certificate. You can use Google Docs, Canva, Microsoft Word, or PowerPoint to create the template. Make sure the design aligns with your requirements.

Adding Tagging to the E-certificate Template

To ensure the layout of your e-certificate remains intact, convert it into an image or photo. Then, create a blank Google Slide inside the folder. Upload the image of your e-certificate template to the Google Slide and resize it to match the slide's dimensions.

You can add a text box for tagging, considering the participants' name length. Make sure the text is centered and the font style and size are appropriate.

If you haven't installed Autocrat yet, download it from the Google Sheet by clicking on "Extensions," selecting "Get add-ons," and installing Autocrat.

Running the Job Manually

Once Autocrat is installed, create a new job and name it accordingly. Select the template you created earlier as the source data template. Make sure to match the tagging from the Google Slide to the Google Sheet column. Customize the file name by adding participants' names using tags. Choose the file type as PDF to restrict editing. Select multiple output mode and choose whether to share the document or send it via email.

You can either run the job automatically upon form submission or manually by clicking the "Run the job" button in Autocrat.
