The world can often feel devoid of inspiration, leaving us at a crossroads between profound wisdom and clichéd mediocrity. In such times, we find ourselves craving something new, something that sparks a fire within us. This is where the Wisdom Weaver comes in - an AI-powered inspirational quote generator designed to generate quotes that inspire, quotes that restore that inner flame.

The Curious Chickens Team

The Curious Chickens team is a group of six members dedicated to developing the Wisdom Weaver. Each member brings their unique skills and passion to the project. Let's meet the team:

1. Ronit: From Boston, Massachusetts, Ronit focuses on training the model and connecting it to the website.
2. Harika: Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Harika specializes in graphic design on the front end.
3. Jaden: Based in New York City, Jaden works on tuning the models' hyperparameters and front-end development.
4. Niall: Coming from Carpenteria, California, Niall contributes to the front end and model training.
5. Carolina: Living in LA, Carolina experiments with the back end, ensuring the model is optimized to its fullest potential.

Tech Stack

To bring the Wisdom Weaver to life, the Curious Chickens team utilizes a diverse tech stack. Here are the tools and languages we employed:

• Front End: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap were employed to create an intuitive and user-friendly website.
• Back End: Python, Hugging Face, GPT Neo, Pi Torch, and Flask were used to connect the front end with the model, ensuring seamless functionality.
• Additional Tools: Throughout the project, we utilized various Google applications such as Docs, Slides, and Collab. Kaggle played a vital role in acquiring the necessary dataset for training the model.

Fine-tuning the Model

To ensure the Wisdom Weaver produces the most relevant and inspiring quotes, we focused on fine-tuning the model using a carefully curated dataset.

The Inspirational Quotes Dataset

The dataset we used, called the Cargo Inspirational Quotes dataset, consists of 1744 unique quotes, each associated with a specific category. Categories include love, hope, kindness, believing in oneself, and gratitude, among others. It is important to note that the distribution of quotes across categories is uneven, with some categories having a larger number of quotes than others.

Choosing GPT Neo as the Model

Among the various language models available, we selected GPT Neo as our model of choice. GPT Neo is an improved version of GPT2, specifically designed for efficient text generation. While larger models like Palm or Llama offer more capabilities, we opted for GPT Neo due to our project's requirements and resource constraints.

Training and Testing Variations

During our development process, we trained and tested four different variations of the model to determine the optimal performance.

Based on thorough testing, it was determined that the model trained with five epochs and a learning rate of one e minus five produced the best results. The training time varied significantly for each model variation. The five-epoch model trained in five minutes, while the 10-epoch model required 15 minutes. The models with 50 and 90 epochs took two and a half hours and four hours, respectively.

Results and Optimal Epochs

Surprisingly, the results demonstrated that more epochs didn't necessarily yield better outcomes. When tested, the 90-epoch model produced gibberish, indicating diminishing returns after a certain point. The 10-epoch model was too slow for production, and the 50-epoch model showed inconsistent results.

It became clear that the model trained with five epochs struck the perfect balance, generating coherent and meaningful quotes. This finding highlights the importance of finding the optimal point where the model performs its best, even if it requires a smaller number of epochs.

The Wisdom Weaver is a versatile tool that caters to a range of users and their specific needs. Some potential use cases include:
